Franz Ferdinand.
Manege of the military school.

Scottish rock-group “Franz Ferdinand” was founded in Glasgow in 2001. The group consists of Alex Kapranos (vocal, guitar), Nick McCarthy (guitar, keyboard instruments, back-vocal), Bob Hardy (bass-guitar) and Paul Thomson (drums). This cast hasn’t been changed since the group foundation.
Popularity of the group was gradually rising, supported by their regular free concerts. The first album called “Franz Ferdinand” was recorded in Malmo, in Sweden, under the direction of the producer Tor Yohanson. On the 3rd of October 2005 they released their 2nd CD, recorded in New-York. On the 26th of January 2009 the musicians released their third album “Tonight: Franz Ferdinand”. On the 31st of October they visited Russia with the only solo concert in Saint-Petersburg.
The performance was held in the Manege of the military school, where there was a long queue at the entrance long before the concert. People were coming and coming. There wasn’ a space in the Manege by the beginning of the concert. Nevertheless, I managed to stay in the front line. At the warming-up we listened to a young rock-n-roll group from Minsk “The Toobes”, which had already gained popularity. After a short break the long-expected Scottish guartette appeared on the stage. The audience was delighted. The whole concert of “Franz Ferdinand” consisted of the hit-songs which remain in our memory at once. In the middle of the performance they sang the song “Take Me Out”, perhaps the most famous composition of the group. But placed the emphasis on their new albums “Tonight”. “Ulysses” , start single from the albums, was sung after “Take Me Out”. During this single and the other songs the audience took an active part in singing. They also played “The fire” with the incredible playing the guitars and “Outsiders”, the song during which all of the musicians of the group beat the drums. They didn’t place the emphasis on the decoration, but a big screen behind the musicians perfectly blended with the atmosphere of the concert. And, of course, it didn’t turn out without fans’ favourite “spasibo” from Alex Kapranos. At the end of the performance, the musicians played an encore the song from the new CD “Lucid dreams”.
I liked the concert very much. I think nobody could sit quietly and everybody got only positive emotions.
